Beyoncé fans struggle to book hotels in London and Sunderland for Renaissance world tour as prices soar

After Beyoncé opened general admission sales for not one, not two, but seven UK tour dates today, there’s been another wave of panic from lucky fans who bagged a ticket – over where they’re going to stay.

Due to popular demand, Queen Bey added more Renaissance UK dates so she will now be playing on five nights in London from May 29 until June 4, and one night each in Cardiff (May 17), Edinburgh (May 20), and Sunderland (May 23).

The tickets went live at 10am on Ticketmaster and Live Nation on Tuesday February 7, and soon after, the scramble for accommodation became real.

According to Booking.com, 90% of hotels near Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the nights Beyoncé is in town have already sold out, while Sunderland hotel prices surged to £500 plus a night.

It’s not just the ticket companies that work via dynamic pricing, where costs fluctuate depending on demand.

The Holiday Inn Chingford, which is a short distance from the Tottenham stadium, is charging £349 for the night of May 30 for one adult.

Meanwhile, the cheapest of the only three hotel options left in Sunderland on Booking.com to put fans within easy distance from the Stadium of Light on the night cost upwards from £499 for one room. Ouch.

One person wrote on Twitter: ‘These hotel prices in the UK for the Renaissance Tour are looking scary.’

This comes after hundreds of thousands of people queued with bated breath to get tickets for the Renaissance tour.

One person wrote just after 10am on Tuesday: ‘There’s only 1700 people in front of me for Beyoncé tickets, I feel sick.’ Third, fourth and fifth London dates were announced shortly afterwards.

Someone else said: ‘How are there 369,000 people in the queue in front of me for Beyoncé tickets I literally went on straight at 10’ and another wrote, ‘A mere 242231 people ahead of me in the Beyoncé ticket queue this morning. FFS.’

It will be Beyoncé’s first tour since 2016, and the 2023 Renaissance tour is due to kick off on May 10, 2023, at Friends Arena in Stockholm and will then continue making stops throughout Europe in cities.

Beyoncé will also be touring North America, performing shows in Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Houston.

The megastar recently made history by being the artist to scoop the most Grammy awards in history.
