
Ahead of the release of the computer school placement of students who sat for 2022 BECE, the management of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) has announced the school placement cut-off grade.
In a discussion with AcademicWeek, a CSSPS official said there is no direct cut-off for the school placement however his outfit this year will not place students who had an aggregate of 9 in both English Language and Mathematics.
We don’t have a direct cut-off point for the computer school placement, the only cut-off grade we have is when a student gets aggregate 9 in English Language or Mathematics he or she will not qualify for placement,” he disclosed.
The computer placement official explained that the school postings are based on six subjects namely English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies and two additional best-performed subjects of a candidate.
“So the Computerized School Selection and Placement System policy guideline is that if you get grade 9 in English Language or Mathematics which are required to qualify you for placement, you will not get school,” he told the AcademicWeek.
Asked what measures have been put in place by his outfit to ensure a smooth school placement checking this year, the CSSPS staff said the school placement portal has been upgraded to contain a huge amount of visitor traffic.
The 2022 BECE graduates this year will use only https://cssps.gov.gh to check their secondary school placement. We can assure the students and public that there will be no downtime during the school checking process,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng has said the school placement of students who participated in the 32nd edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination will be out in February of this year.
In an interview monitored by AcademicWeek, the spokesperson said his outfit in collaboration with Ghana Education Service, Ghana TVET Service and Free SHS Secretariate is working tirelessly to release the school placement on time.
“After the BECE results are out, the 2022 Senior High/Technical School placement in less than two weeks will be released. The students are expected to report to school in February this year,” the Education Ministry spokesman said.
The Ghana Education Service after the Ministry of Education cautioned students to be wary of computer school placement scams says it is preparing to release the second cycle of school postings of 2022 BECE candidates.
In a statement shared with AcademicWeek, the management of the Education Service said it remains committed to ensuring a smooth, merit-based computer Senior High School placement process under established guidelines.
Management strongly cautions the general public not to fall prey to deceitful persons that may approach them to pay money for a place in SHS. Such persons are to be reported immediately to the Police,” GES said in the statement.
