The academic calendar for senior high schools is set to be released by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education (SHS).
It has been reported by insiders at the Ministry that negotiations with various parties are nearly finished, and assuming no last-minute alterations, the schedule may be revealed this week.
It comes in response to parents’ and guardians’ concerns about how long their children will be in school.
Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Public Relations Officer for the GES, told JoyNews that the GES and the Ministry are currently engaging with stakeholders and will announce the new calendar soon.
The academic calendar is essential for the smooth operation of the educational system because it serves as a roadmap for both students and teachers. Important dates such as term start and end dates, holidays, and examination periods are usually included on the calendar.
The calendar’s release has been delayed in recent years, causing confusion and uncertainty among parents and students. However, the GES and the Ministry are collaborating this year to resolve these issues and provide clarity to the public.
The announcement of the new calendar is expected to pave the way for the release of placement into Senior High Schools, providing much-needed relief to parents and students who have been waiting for the announcement.
