Good News Hit NSS Personnels and here is why
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Executive Director, Osei Assibey Antwi, has announced that the allowance for the month of June will be disbursed on Monday.
He further stated that the arrears covering the months from January to June, along with the payment for July, will be disbursed in the following week.
Mr. Assibey assured National Service Personnel that efforts are being made to ensure the timely disbursement of both the arrears and the ongoing allowances. He mentioned, “The good news is that with the arrears we have gotten the authorization and also to work on the arrears from January to June. So you will receive the old one, then next week we also start working on the rest.”
In related news, the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has advocated for a structured formula for the upward adjustment of the National Service allowance.
The Management of the National Service Scheme had recently announced an approval from the government for an increase in the monthly allowance for National Service Personnel, raising it from Ghc 559.04 to Ghc 715.57. This adjustment is retroactively applied from January 2023.
The decision came in response to persistent protests and appeals from National Service Personnel for an increase in their allowances, which had been ongoing since the previous year.
The implementation of the allowance increase and the timely disbursement of arrears aim to better support the National Service Personnel and acknowledge their contributions to various sectors of society.
