KUMAWU GHANA, A/R: FIVE PERSONS ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING POLICE OFFICER
The Kumawu District Police in the Ashanti Region has arrested five suspected people for attacking a police officer during a night patrol inflicting wounds on Corporal Sylvester Berhene.
The attack also led to the dislocation of left knee of the victim.
Officer at about 16:45 hours the night patrol team led by G/Cpl. Sylvester Berhene and two men intercepted a Kia matix taxi cab with registration no. AS 9504- 19 with seven persons on board and began a search.
During the search in the boot of the vehicle , some of the occupants became angry and pounced on the police officer, struggled and put him down on the ground.
The police surveillance team was contacted for reinforcement when they arrived they managed to arrest three of the assailants namely Edward Boateng, 20years, Evan Addo, 20years and Yaw Kusi aged 22years.
The others managed to escape. Two of the runaway assailants namely Michael Owusu and Boateng Yaw age 28 and 20 years respectively were later apprehended by the surveillance team.
The Police said efforts underway to apprehend the other two assailants.
